Information

The Games take place at Monaltrie Park, Ballater which is well signposted from all approaches to the town.

The event is always held on the second Thursday in August. Gates open at 10.00 a.m., and competitions commence at 11.00 a.m., continuing until approximately 5.00 p.m.

Car parking is available adjacent to the park and can accommodate large vehicles, if necessary. To ease administration, touring buses should make prior arrangements with the Secretary of the Games. Payment beforehand is not necessary however, as the admission charge is collected by the gatekeepers at the entry point.

Competitors should note that they will be charged for admission to the Games, but they are then free to compete in all their events, as there are no event entry fees payable.

2017 admission prices are:

Adults - £8.00
Children - 2.00

To complete the day, Beat Retreat by the Pipe Bands is planned for 7pm on the Church Green in Ballater.

Games Patronage

The Ballater Highland Games is very generously supported by many Patrons, both local and from further afield, and it is this wonderful support that allows the Committee to commit with confidence to the ever-increasing expenditure involved in staging such events.

If you were interested in becoming a Patron of the 2017 Games, you would be invited to contribute, in advance of the Games, a minimum amount of £35 for which you would receive two tickets for seats in the Patrons’ Enclosure, a Car Park ticket and also programmes on presentation of your tickets at the Patrons’ Enclosure.

Patrons and their guests are invited to join the Committee in the Hospitality Marquee where refreshments are available in exchange for refreshment tickets, a number of which are allocated to each Patron. If required, a Patron can request tickets for up to 4 extra adult guests at an additional cost. Child guest tickets, unlimited, are available at a set cost, as are extra car parking tickets.

For more information, and to enjoy, as Patron, the friendship and conviviality for which Ballater is known, please contact our Patrons Convener:-
